Don’t believe all the negative reviews – Hy‑Vee Review

TLDR: This update of the app works perfectly on my iPhone 7 (with the most current OS). Date of this review is Dec 7, 2017 While looking thru the reviews, I found that most of the 1-star ones are for versions BEFORE the current one (9.7.0). I wish there was a way (on the phone) to sort reviews so that you’re seeing the most recent ones. I think you can do that on the iPad app, but I haven’t figured out how to sort them on the phone. A few features/fixes I’d like to see are: 1) Support for ApplePay (I realize this is a Hy-Vee corporate responsibility). This would obviate the need to carry yet another card in your wallet (or have to say your phone number out loud in the checkout line). 2) A way to scan the UPC of items that I use, to add them to the Shopping List. In other words, if I like a certain cereal and am running low, I‘d like to scan the code on the box and have it put that item on my list. 3) When scrolling through the Deals/ad, it takes FOR-EV-ER to get to the end. The app seems to repeat items that you’ve already seen, which is a time waster when putting together a list. 4) Assuming that Hy-Vee is tracking my purchases, if I never buy Pampers or kitty litter, those things should be at the bottom of the list of ad items. It should also put all the ad items of a particular category, meat items for instance, next to each other on the Deals/ads, rather than separating them with booze (or kitty litter) in between. 5) The location function isn’t usually correct, though I haven’t tried to use it in quite a while because it didn’t work well in previous versions. If it did work right, the above problem might fix itself. 6) It would be great if the app could check the current ad when you enter an item on your Shopping List. For example, if you decide you need eggs and just type in eggs, the app should check the current ad and, if eggs are on the ad, offer to put that on your list instead of the generic word “eggs” that you typed. 7) My wife and I both have cards and it would be great if, when I add something to my shopping list, it would show up on hers too, because our cards are (supposedly) linked. Also, if I add a manufacturer coupon on my card, it should show up on her card too. I have Family Share on our iCloud account turned on so, in theory, it should work that way. 8) Have specials specifically for users of the app to encourage people to get it and use it. I have to believe it would be in the best interest of Hy-Vee marketing to know (and track) what customers are buying, so they can target them with specific deals. I know this happened once with eggs a while ago, but I haven’t seen it again. Maybe it IS still happening but I’m not aware. Overall, I love the app and think that many of the 1-star reviews are over-exaggerations, or are for problems that have since been corrected. I am going to send my comments/suggestions directly to the developers, so that I’m not trashing a perfectly good app without giving them a chance to reply and/or fix the problems.
