Great story, really fun game, major flaws and lack of support – FINAL FANTASY TACTICS :WotL Review

I want to start by saying I absolutely LOVE this game. I watched my cousin play it when I was younger and bought the two tactics versions that were released on DS when I was older. Much better storyline than its predecessors: it’s grittier, seems like it was designed for a more adult audience and feels more like a period piece than the almost childish versions that followed in the “trilogy”. I call it a trilogy because let’s face it, they’re not going to release anymore Tactics style games despite the hardcore cult following. Gameplay is surprisingly intuitive now that it’s an app, but I almost want to play it on silent sometimes because of the ear splitting beeps that play every time you press the screen to submit or cancel an action. I also realize that this is a “port” and not really an app, so the inconveniences like line of sight that occur in game are not something that could really be avoided without major redesign considerations. My major grievance though is the crashing. The port clearly does not get much support these days so the game crashes frequently, so I recommend saving every chance you get! Sometimes I can play the game for hours and even minimize and come back to it, but sometimes the game will crash three times just when starting it up. All that said, I really don’t expect them to fix anything I’ve said, and I do truly enjoy the game enough to see it through to the end (especially since I paid money for it). I would recommend it to somebody who can’t get their hands on the original PS version, who is very patient, and enjoys the series enough to deal with the inconveniences that come along with this port.
