Snurles: Game of the Year? – Snurfle Meiosis Review

Snurfle Meiosis is truly a refreshing take on mobile gaming. With many knock off wannabes plaguing the Appstore in the current age, it is truly amazing to see such a wonderful original game come onto the scene. This review will be split into multiple sections: Graphics, Gameplay, Story, and Music Graphics: Many current game developers don't have the resources to make affordable 4K gaming, thus being unable to please fans. (Because we all know a game can only be fun if it has good graphics) Snurfle Meiosis, however, uses beautiful scenery reminiscent of the PC days of 2006. Unlike other games from this age, such as The Legend of Zelda, Twilight Princess, Snurfles uses 2D graphics that have aged quite well, something that even the PS2 or XBox was able to accomplish. Lots of time was spent perfecting the graphics of this game, and it shows. Gameplay/Controls: Even with the main menu screen, I love how the buttons press, almost as if I am actually in the game. The controls work like a charm, always responding as soon as I tap the screen. The game always runs at 120 fps, even on old devices, always providing for a smooth experience. Story: The game follows the story path of two lovers of a fantasy race known as Snurfles. (Hence the name) As with any other species, the Snurfles must reproduce in order to survive and not go extinct. After procreating, the player must use their knowledge of Genetics and Meiosis in order to save the entire Snurfle species. With gripping cutscenes, and properly placed suspense, Snurfles is a game that you won't want to put down. Music: Snurfles uses proper music placement in wonderful places. The way the notes are placed throughout the game is truly fantastic. I have even purchased a few of the songs used in the game to listen to on my own time. (My own time usually spent either playing this game, or researching the lore) My only complaint is that the trailer music is not used in the actual game, despite being perfect in multiple instances. Verdict: Snurfles is a wonderfully crafted game, worthy of the 5 stars that I give it. It has truly taken my breath away and I cannot wait to see what the developer offers in the future. Snurfles is a gem hidden among the Appstore, and deserves a lot more attention than it gets.
