Broken PDF Download in v3.4.7 – Papers 3 - Reference Manager Review

UPDATE #1: 2017/10/18 Still no word from the developers about this issue, and it persists across iOS devices. My best guess is that since Papers is now owned by the ReadCube people, they may be trying to drive legacy users to the ReadCube app and subscription-based model. ReadCube on iOS devices is passable, but on macOS it is complete garbage. You’d have a better user experience just putting all your PDFs in a few nested folders and reading them in Preview. ORIGINAL REVIEW: In this latest version, the ability to download PDFs from a synced Dropbox library is broken. Instead of downloading the paper, the app redirects to the landing page where the paper is available if known (e.g., IEEE, ACM, Science Direct). The developers have acknowledged this is an issue, but I haven’t heard any updates for a week. I’ll update this review when/if they fix this issue, but in the interim, this app is effectively useless for me on iOS devices (the macOS version appears to be unaffected).
