Unnecessary UX transitions; restricted typing – GlobeConvert Currency & Units Review

big, simple UX, which is why I don't understand the fancy & slow UX transitions. restricted typing only allowed to change top value. Would like to tap on the bottom field then tap numbers to control the bottom field. Would like multiple conversions on one screen, for example: Euro, USD, RSD, like a ticker (smaller fonts are OK).
