Fantastic App!!! – Runmeter Running & Walking GPS Review

**Watch Update** After using for years, I’ve been forced to abandon Runmeter. Last year Apple released Apple Watch v2 which supported internal GPS. I was so excited. No more phone. But when I launch Runmeter on my watch, I am prompted to open app on my phone. I’ve written developer several times. They refuse to comment on development. So, I have been forced to leave Runmeter with my phone at home and rely on Apples run app (or unmentioned 3rd party apps). It’s been over a year and I remain disappointed. **Heart Rate Update** Updating review as I have received and used the Wahoo Blue HR heart rate monitor with Runmeter. Using Wahoo monitor was VERY easy. Nothing to do on monitor device except put on (may want to wet sensors) (wearing device turns it on). From within Runmeter: More: Settings, there is a Sensors area. Turn on Bluetooth sensors. Select Connect New Sensors. Confirm your Wahoo device. Done! All within Runmeter. Very impressive. I changed my Stopwatch settings to include both HR and Average HR on screen. Very pleased. Thank you Runmeter! I've used several iOS apps for tracking my runs. Runmeter is my favorite and has been my running companion for the last 6 months. One of my favorite things about this App is it's developers/creators. Too many apps are created and abandoned. Runmeter has been constantly updated - improving continually. I had written asking for ANT heart rate monitor support (ANT is a low voltage wireless protocol) for some the monitors on the market. They added it. When I saw the new iPhone 4S contained BlueTooth 4.0 (Smart Bluetooth), I asked them if they would support that.. they said they'd look into it. AND.. Now I see they do! I just ordered the Wahoo BlueHR heart rate monitor and look forward to running with the added information. If you have not run with a heart rate monitor before, I strongly recommend it. The lack of heart info was the only blemish on this app for me. Runmeter has many, many functions, yet remains easy to use. I love the voice announcements, it's auto-email results, and auto-add to iCal / Exchange calendar. They've done a nice job allow screen customization. I will not get into all the features; but wanted to make sure to call out my favorites. Previously, I has spent $325 for the Garmin 305 solution.. it seams stone age tech now that I've been iPhone/Runmeter bound. At $5, Runmeter was a GREAT buy.
