F2P Done Well – Game of Thrones Ascent Review

While games that use the standard price-gouging model are common enough to be considered standard fare, Disruptor beam does just enough to re-tool that kind of system to make it palatable. While purchases can make the game easier, I found I could play for 40+ hours on my first run before needing to chose between payment or a bit of grinding to make better gear. Add to the game a pleasing aesthetic and ambiance, obvious passion for the source material, and a heavy narrative focus, this remains the only free-to-play app I've had in my library for more than a week. While it may not be for everyone, the story's increasing depth and character focus make it a very enjoyable way to while away some free moments in the day.
