Convenient, but eventually becomes unusable. – Learn Japanese! - Kanji Review

This app is really convenient app as it gives one access to all 2136 常用漢字. I myself have worked through the first 900 characters using this app. However: Some typos: 示す shows up as しす 並べる shows up as なべる I would put the number of typos in this app at roughly 0.5% (probably 10-15 typos in the whole app). During the review quizzes of the app I have to keep in mind which characters have typos in their readings and which do not. Buyer beware if this is your only resource for learning vocab. Some inconsistent definitions: 米 shows up as メートル and is defined as "rice." During the quizzes you are asked to give the correct definition to メートル and "rice". This is one of the problems of giving a single Japanese reading and a single English definition. Some definitions overlap: Both 黄色 and 黄色い are defined as "yellow," and during the quizzes you are expected to guess the "correct" yellow when asked, as two of the four multiple choice answers will be "yellow," only one of which will be correct (the other will be marked as wrong.) This also happens for "respect:" 尊敬 尊重 Are both defined as "respect," leading to incorrect guesses and frustration as the app interprets incorrect answers as it needing to prompt you more. This slows progress a lot - at one point in time I was stuck in a loop for 5 minutes trying to guess the correct answer in a row enough times to get the app to mark the lesson as completed. This also happens for 自然 and 天然, both defined as "nature." I would again put the number of these definition overlaps at about 0.5%, but as the app more often asks about the ones you get wrong, be prepared to be asked about these often. Warning: you must start from Level 1 Lesson 1, otherwise prepare for strange behavior. I came in already knowing ~200 characters, so I jumped to level 4 (and then back down to level 3). The vocab for each lesson uses kanji from previous lessons - which because I jumped, had not been registered by the app as being learned. This has the consequence of blank multiple choice answers during the review sessions. Selecting the blank answer was the correct answer 100% of the time, for a few weeks and then eventually became 0%, and then eventually vanished, as I went back and started from the very beginning. However, this eventually becomes impossible to completely do, because: Some lessons crash - never allowing them to be marked as completed, and forcing you to leave those vocabulary as "unlearned." There are roughly three lessons out of the first 600 lessons (again 0.5%) that crash the app. Unfortunately I do not remember which ones they were, as I've reset my progress and now have them all marked as "ready to learn!" again. This leads me to the conclusion: The further you go along this app, the slower it will become, and the more likely it is to crash when exiting a lesson or review. At 600 lessons in, it was lagging every time I completed a lesson, and crashed about half the time on exiting (while marking the lesson and completed, fortunately.) If you've come this far in this review and haven't been scared off, I have some parting words: This is a /really/ good app. At least, it could have been. All 2136 常用漢字! On my phone! And I could always see exactly how many lessons I'd done and how many I had left to go. The color scheme and visuals of this app are so easy on the eyes as well. Very minimalistic and nice-looking. Anyway, doing ten lessons a day (roughly half an hour) and you'd be done in a little shy of 5 months. You'd also pick up some 3k vocab along the way as well. I wish I could have seen this app all the way through!
