Love, love, love! – Miss Fisher and the Deathly Maze Review

If you like mystery games that aren't hidden object or pay to play, this is your dream come true. You don't have to watch the show to get it, though it helps since the game doesn't give much backstory on the characters. I actually discovered the show through the game. I'm fed up to the back teeth with mobile mystery games. Even the "adventure" category is full of the same formula regurgitated with different characters - even big name franchises are just the same game over again! The odd innovative, non-formulaic game lacks the casual element. Not so with Miss Fisher. With a Phryne-like disregard for what everyone else is doing, this game allows you to explore, discuss, and deduce. You visit different locations to look for clues in a point-and-click style, and you discover new ones throughout the game. The suspects and other characters (including ones not part of the show) are fleshed out, and sometimes you need to put clues together to form a new conclusion to move forward in the story. A second episode is set up and I can't wait! A continuation just like this one would be more than worth it, but if I could make a few suggestions to improve, I might recommend a task list and a little more detail to the exploration. Sometimes it's hard to remember what you were supposed to do if you put the game down for a while, and it would be cool if you had to look under something for a clue or go through a trash bin - actually go through it, not just click on it and have Phryne say she went through it. However, I will happily play Episode 2 if nothing changes other than the story advancing!
