The best photo app for photo creatives – Darkr - Black And White Filter Review

This is a fantastic app, plain and simple. It is the perfect blend of iPhone and traditional large and medium format photography. I love the control and choice you have for exposure, aperture, focus & ISO. The darkroom features are simple and effective. The app encourages (as traditional photography does) a refined process that slows the photographer down and encourages careful viewing of the subject. This is not a great app for people who want to take quick photos (or selfies) and use filters to make them look more interesting. This is an app for taking beautiful black and white photos with your iPhone. There are 2 issues I have found, neither of which have inhibited my enjoyment of the app: 1.) I only use the large and medium format options - never the 35mm because it is basically just a b&w iPhone camera. 2.) I find the burn and dodge masks are hard to control touching the screen. You can't zoom in to draw the masks, so you end up with large , imprecise masks for burn/dodge. Still, this is a five star app every day of the week.
