Still Very Happy. – Trunk Notes Personal Wiki Review

Update 5-16-2017 I left my original review below, but I've been using Trunk Notes for months now, and I thought I'd add a few more thoughts. The 5 stars stand. This app is very useful. It has become an integral part of my mental process because it allows me to do things like very easily make a deck of 500+ flash cards (Something that would be arduous to physically hold), or keep track of daily goals, or write poetry based on randomly selected keywords. I also still really like the ability to randomly select images from my art collection. I use this app every single day, and am still very happy with it. Original Review: Unlike some of the other 5 star reviews, I haven’t been using trunk notes for years. I’ve only been using it for about a week and a half, but I’m already in love. My mind is a very complex network of associations, and no other app I’ve ever used has allowed me to document my thoughts in a way that made sense to me. Trunk notes changes that. I can journal my thoughts, and hyperlink them to other thoughts, then can add tags to keep similar thoughts grouped together where I can find them later. But what really makes this app stand out is the ability to create dynamic content. After loading 1,500 or so of my favorite pieces of art, it was very simple to make a 3x1 table that would pull 3 images at random. Every time I reload the page, I get 3 new images from my collection. 5 minutes more of writing simple html, and I had a 9x9 table that did the same thing. I am very happy. I did this all with the built in random function, and didn’t have to write hardly any code except to call the function. I also am especially fond of the web sharing feature. The web interface basically has the same functionality as the app interface. It’s almost like getting a desktop version for free. I can type a hundred times faster on a real keyboard, so I like being able to write my notes from a web browser, but view them later from my device. The drop box functionality also works very well. My entire wiki is now on all my devices which is nice because the 9x9 grid looks way better on a larger screen. Overall, my first impression is very impressed.
