Love the game, until it wiped out all my progress – Leap of Fate Review

I have limited experience with these kinds of games, but this is my favorite so far, in terms of production values and richness. I even like the music. It’s a dual-stick shooter. The left “stick” controls your basic movement, and the right one controls the basic attack, but there are two special-ability modes beyond the basic attack: Shadow Walk and Glyphs. To use these, you tap in the upper left (Shadow Walk) or upper right (Glyph) section of the screen. When you tap, the game action suddenly switches to slow motion. You tap the screen again to direct and launch your attack, and when your attack is launched, the game resumes normal speed. The whole concept is clever and engaging. You play one of four mages who have different back stories and different styles of fighting. You have to adjust to their unique styles and work your way up through their respective levels. It took me awhile to warm up to the game, but it’s become my favorite game. But I’ve gotten spoiled playing dual-stick shooters with a MFi game controller, and LoF would be a lot more fun if I could play it with my SteelSeries Nimbus controller. Update, 03/31/17: I was going to upgrade my rating to five stars, because the game play is generally awesome, but yesterday, the app mysteriously wiped out all of my previous progress. I've been playing it every day, and I had unlocked all of the characters and completed many missions. I had Big Mo playing at the "hard" level, but when I launched LoF, yesterday, it was if I was playing for the very first time. I had to play through the tutorial and start all over. This is a major bug, as far as I'm concerned, so instead of upgrading my rating to five stars, I'm downgrading to three stars. Too bad because the game play is terrific, even without game controller support.
