Very Impressed – Yandex Browser Review

I can't imagine there are many English language reviews of this as Yandex' main market is former Soviet countries + Turkey, so for English speakers I will try to give a general overview. Yandex has basically implemented their own branding, UX, and data compression setup (Turbo Mode) over the Chrome browser engine. If you live in an English speaking country, chances are that only that last bit - Turbo Mode - will have relevance for you. If you have a capped data plan, this will likely save you money and/or let you work for longer without hitting your cap. There are a couple of other neat features that are less well documented like the ability to send Facebook messages from within the browser without installing the Messenger app, as well as Russian/Ukrainian/Turkish voice search which is probably better than that of Apple or Google. All in all a very thoughtfully put together piece of software.
