Great shopping list tool – What's for Dinner? Recipe Cookbook and Shopping List Review

Update: this app is no longer supported and many features do not work with ios10. Sad day, but I have to find something new. I can't even import recipes anymore. A recipe you're using won't stay open when switching between apps, and I recently got an iPhone and realized I couldn't sync recipes between devices. We had a few good years, but now I guess I'm starting over again. Previous review: All I was really looking for was a simple grocery shopping tool wherein to add recipes to a shopping list and have ingredients categorized automatically. This app is perfect! I'm using the iphone app on my ipad because no ipad version is available, but i'm still pleased. It's super easy to use. Within a couple hours I had 60+ of my personal recipes imported. Did the formatting on my pc and emailed it. It imported and categorized ingredients for more than 60 recipes with the click of a button! The categorizing was what I was most interested in, and it is not perfect but it is pretty good. Modification is simple as well. I only had to modify about 1 ingredient in 7. I don't use this app for cooking from the recipes, only for storing them to add to a shopping list. There are better cookbook apps, in my opinion. A few things this app will not do that would make it rock my face off: 1. It won't allow the categories to be reordered within the shopping list. Not a big deal, but it would be nice. 2. It won't total a common ingredient. I don't understand why no app i've seen will do this, but I'm not a programmer. I've been doing my shopping lists in excel until now, and the sum isn't too compicated to calculate if the units are the same...and if not, it's a simple conversion. It's a nuisance. Not gonna dock it any stars for that, though. 3. It will not scale a recipe that i'm adding to my shopping cart, like meals i am doubling/tripling for the freezer. That's kind of a big deal for me. Even so, $3 is well worth the time this baby saves me!
