Good concept, frustrating execution – Hiragana Pixel Party Review
It's a brilliant concept for internalizing Japanese characters, HOWEVER... the execution of the rhythm-game timing controls leaves MUCH to be desired: A SINGLE MIS-TIMED CLICK IS BEING REPORTED BY THE GAME AS _BOTH_ "TOO SOON" _AND_ "TOO LATE".
I'm a programmer as well (Activision is in my credits-list) and would recommend the developer re-evaluate the timing gap for correct entries.
I'd strongly recommend two modes, one where the rhythm-game is MUCH less microsecond-timing specific first, then a second "Challenge" mode where one can run through all levels again, faster, where pinpoint precision timing is more important.
So, if you're an expert at timing/rhythm games, this game will be super for you... if you're average or below at rhythm games, YOU'RE GOING TO GET SUPER FRUSTRATED WITH THIS GAME/TOOL!
