A Classic Game Like This Deserves a Better App – Reiner Knizia's Ra Review

The only great thing about this app is getting to play RA on my phone. That’s pretty much it. Other than that it's just… bad. The graphics are lack luster at best. Using a thin Papyrus font over everything is difficult to read and looks sloppy. The game ‘board’ barely reaches the edge of my screen and the font just spills off the edge. The tiles (which are the cleanest graphics of the entire game) don’t even match up with the board. I have to assume the game was designed for the iPhone 4 and never updated afterward and it’s trying to fill out the 5,6 and now 7 screens to terrible result. I would suggest cleaning it up and get it back to the original board game's bright clean look or update it to capture the realistic tactile look of the new printing along with getting it to resize it’s self appropriately to whichever device it’s on. Also the music is repetitive and dull. At least let the music last through a few turns before repeating. Also most of the "effects” such as the hole in the sand opening to swallow tiles and the "invoking RA' whirlwind is cheesy and slows the pace of the game down so I just leave them turned off. This is a great board game. One of the best out there. It deserves better.
