This app is terrible – Withings Health Mate Review

This whole app, device, and cloud ecosystem is terrible. I am hoping that most of my complaints are setup issues and that daily use is smoother. I installed the app strictly to configure a Withings Body scal. If I wasn't a software engineer who has worked in the IoT space, I don't think I could have setup the scale. Both the app and the scale timed out repeatedly while trying to establish bluetooth and then again while I created the mandatory Withings account. Knowing how device setup was supposed to work seemed necessary, and it should be simpler. Many of the app's screens do not update to reflect setting changes just made in the app, like new users and new weight measurements. (The same is true of the website.) Body composition measurements seem flakey, in that they do not always happen. I hope that the system works better in a steady state.
