Absolutely superb! – New York Mysteries 2: High Voltage HD Review

It's hard to describe how different this series is from the typical HOP/puzzle adventure game. You really feel as if you are a character in a movie, not just a player moving from one hidden object scene to another. The voice acting, animation, and soundtrack are all high-quality. The graphics beautifully capture the 1950s era and the drama innate in the storyline. The controls are state-of-the-art. Difficulty is configurable, and I received the level of hints precisely when I wanted them. The map enables teleportation and tells you when you still have a collectible to find. There is a journal that tracks your adventure, although it would've been helpful if more of the clues were captured in the journal. This became a problem on a couple occasions because if you click away from some of the minigames to doublecheck a clue in the room, the puzzle resets and you must start over. The bonus chapter is quite lengthy, and it is as well done as the main game. If you collect all of the slides throughout the game, there is yet a third set of minigames that you can complete after the bonus chapter. The minigames are all variations of the same puzzle, but it is still a nice extra. I don't have to even think about giving this five stars, and I can't wait to play more games from this developer.
