What happened? – Google Keep - Notes and lists Review

I just recently downloaded this app and I was very happy to find that this was the perfect check list type of app, although it was unnecessary to have such a limitation for colors for each note. That needs improvement. A lot of it. But then a recent upgrade comes and I can't even add the checkmark feature to my notes. Why is there an entire button to delete the note? Why doesn't the layout automatic come with the checkmark system? Want this to be fixed. I am very disappointed that this app fell into garbage, like every other app.
