Unbearable controls – Godzilla: Strike Zone Review

I've just started the game, pretty good so far. But what's awful about this is the controls. I can go left and right just fine, but when it comes to going up or down it either doesn't work or acts as though I'm moving through molasses. I'm on the parachute level and I can't get through the second building because of this. I'm either way off Or I get over it, my feet just barely graze the top. And I'm dead
