An Intriguing Horror – Lost Within Review

**NO SPOILERS** Story- 7/10 Gameplay- 5/10 Visuals- 6/10 Audio- 5/10 Overall- 6/10 Story- The story to this game was page turning. Towards the middle of the game I was pressed to speed through gameplay (which is simple to do) just to get through the layers of story and find out what the hell was happening. What I would call the side quest of finding all the hidden (and not so hidden) notes was interesting at first, but in the end not so. The game world was too repetitive for me to be intrigued by the limited writings of notes, newspaper articles, and letters. The overall story was satisfying enough, although the cliff hanger ending not so. The ending I feel could have been better constructed (although it was good) and the cliff hanger much more juicy. Although I left the game satisfied, it was only a satisfaction as of finishing dinner to have dessert after. Gameplay- Use, rinse, recycle, repeat. The game has a simple no offense system. It's a lot of hiding in lockers and sneaking about. You can just dash through though if you wish to merely experience the story (as I did towards the end). But as I said the gameplay is repetitive and the simple "hunted, not hunter" feel. Although towards the end you can dispose of baddies, most of the game is cowering under desks and in lockers or just dashing through. Which by the way are the only hiding spots in the game. There is a crafting system that is simple and will keep you checking drawers and backpacks for materials, but the system is very small, simple, and uninteresting. The gameplay is definitely not the heart of the game. Visual- Lets remember that this is a mobile game. And for a mobile game is has good graphics. I honestly enjoyed the somewhat old school cutscenes of the game. As though I was playing my Playstation 2. They weren't super detailed, but they didn't need to be. They gave the story straight and simple and it was good enough. The entire game is just the same environment though. The hallways all look the same and it eventually gets dry to walk about the same "different" room. With the graphics and diversity that are beginning to show up on mobile (Modern Combat 5, Avabel) this game looses a lot of points for it's repetitive environment. Audio- The entire feel of the game was eery. All the noises and ambiance of the game was good. The strange unexplained noises kept me hesitant to turn the corner. The music was decent and the baddies all had nasty noises that truly made the experience creepy. The audio carried the repetitive gameplay I feel. So all in all it was good enough. All I got. Overall- I'm going to use the words of another reviewer I saw earlier; Half-baked. The whole game was half-baked. This is Amazon we are looking at. An ever growing company that has so much potential. I feel they could've given us so much more. For the 6.99 (US dollars) I paid for this.. I want more. I don't believe it was truly worth it. 4 dollars is sound price for this game, and that is being somewhat generous. If you enjoy horror, the story here is intriguing and takes an unexpected turn quite a few times. It's somewhat classy but sad to say very half-baked. All in all if you enjoy a good little horror story and this shows up for 99 cents. I'd take it. 4-6 hour game. Thanks for reading! Keep an eye out for more of my reviews (Righteousfox)!
