Not a fan. – WHIO Weather Review

The previous version of WHIOWeather was fine. It wasn't *great* per se, but aside from having to tap the "<" chevron a few times to see the basement menu, there weren't huge problems. The newest version, however, is full of them. The main forecast screen is so visually busy that it's hard to parse anything. While having the current forecast video front and center (not to mention, actually in the app) is nice, having the current host's bust be 25% of the screen is a downright awful decision for any iPhone screen size. Rich and Eric and everyone else are great meteorologists, but currently, I'm having flashbacks to Clippy in Microsoft Word. Likewise, while the interactive radar is much better, the Live Doppler 7 HD stream (and I assume 7 Weather Now stream as well) ALWAYS having an ad auto-play is insulting and a dangerous decision when it comes to trying to determine where storm cells/lines are ASAP (since the interactive radar is still not an actual live radar). The ads at the bottom of the screen were bad enough, but fine, free app = ads. But I literally just got redirected to Trivago's app store page, which never happened in the previous version. While the layout could honestly stay the same, please at least remove the auto-play ads at the beginning of the livestreams. 7Weather Now already has ads on it, and the app is the only way to view the live radar livestream. I've honestly gone back to the previous version, and I hope the current version is fixed by the time the previous version is deactivated, similar to how the previous WHIONews app supposedly doesn't work anymore. I'm sorry for the long, negative review, but this updates is so disappointing. Stormcenter 7 is the only local weather team I respect and trust, and I honestly expect a better app to reflect their work.
