Jinpachi !!!!! – Serendipity Next Door Review

Swoon! Jinpachis story was full of humor and the mc had a lot more sass this time, lots of fun reading this one! Was so nice to have the mc have an actual personality and not be a wilting drab flower the whole time. The translation was by far the best in this story than many others voltage has done. The setting was a little meh and repetitive at times but the dialogue really made up for that big time. This may be the only time I'll reread a voltage storyline. I will say his story is probably the only one I felt like I got my monies worth though. Mr Narita the building manager was ok, but somewhat confusing and I wasn't sure how the mc fell in love with him based on what happened in the story. Masaomi was a bit boring sadly, for being the main guy next door I was expecting him to be a little more interesting. Keiishi was also less exciting than I had hoped for. I didn't even bother with the kid at the pet store, he seemed whiny in the free chapter so after already spending so much on 1 good story and 3 meh stories I didn't want to risk it. My complaint is additional stories are a bit expensive for so little content. The main stories are already a little overpriced in my opinion, they are short and there are lots of games that cost the same or less that entertain lots longer. Also the background artwork is reused from other voltages games sometimes and frankly the character art isn't so complex and fantastic, with poses and clothing being used over and over, that the price is justified. People who aren't artistic with graphics might think this is all much more difficult than it actually is to put a few pictures together and layer a character over them but the graphics being done on these story apps really aren't something a regularly skilled graphic artist can't easily accomplish. Not trying to be a jerk I promise, just saying the truth. If you don't think I'm being fair in this assessment try playing any of the really great hidden object games available for around the same price with interesting storylines and incredible art for around the same price (Dark Parables etc). I know those aren't in the same genre as Voltage games but it's interesting to note the premium quality vs value between them. I feel like the content needs to scale according to how much you get compared to the original stories. 2$ is a lot for 3 short chapters on epilogues! Also please stop making the mc eyeless, it's creepie! I don't care what color they are just put some eyes on there! XD
