Curious UI - double notifications – Journal Sentinel eEdition Review

This is the most curious UI I've ever seen for any mobile newspaper. It's essentially a collection of actual images of the printed paper - sections, page layouts, advertisements and all. I'm not sure how that's easy or desirable for the end user. It looks more like an unwillingness to let go of the past and embrace the digital age! The app also gives double notifications each day - one minute apart from each other - notifying you that a "new edition" is available. Rather annoying. All in all, not what I was expecting - or needing.
