Much improved! – Red Wizard Review

With the latest tweaks to the Knight's starting hit points & abilities, this is a really enjoyable intro to the dungeon crawler genre. The monsters are aggressive and abundant, but not impossible on the early levels. Since its turn-based, it's easy to pick up and put down the longer games. My kids now love this one and I'm enjoying it over coffee too. Well worth buying the author a cuppa joe. Previous version review: Should have been a great game — simple interface & simple graphic preserve the no-frills fun of predecessors like NetHack. I was excited to share this with the kids as a sample of games we used to play. But it’s very difficult to get past the first dungeon. I’ve only made it twice in 100 tries or so, only to die quickly on the second level. Monsters take too much HP per hit & knight is far too weak to survive long at the start. (Often start out w/ scorpion spawning right next to player w/o armor & a weak club! Very short game that.) I’d gladly change my rating if there was a difficulty setting or the developer eased up on the first couple levels.
