Good Scanning in most Scenarios – SmartOCR Text Reader Review

The scan tool is simple to use, and the OCR is pretty accurate (only a few garbled words) as long as you have good light and can get the page you are scanning mostly flat. This version has some nice improvements, such as the ability to control the camera flash. It also has a setting to control line breaks, which is a nice addition. There is still room for improvement: The OCR produces lots of gibberish when there are any underlined words, lines or other "decorations" on the page. I doesn't read text that is not black very well. It fails to read fractions or special characters, such as a degree symbol (I scan lots of recipes). It also randomly capitalizes some words, particularly ones that start with a "w".
