I got this app a while ago, like half a year ago, and thought it was gonna be the brand new music app that everybody had. To my surprise, the music did not even play in the background, which I hated. Of course, you can play it in the background if you PAY MONEY for "YouTube Red". Why would you do that?? Just use Pandora or Spotify!! So I deleted it :). This app is honestly no different from the regular YouTube app unless you pay money. It should not even be in the free column of the App Store. I am typing my review today because I saw this app recently is #1 in the store, and believed maybe it had an update I was unaware of. Nope, still the same thing. Before downloading this app, just be aware that you have to pay for your music (sorry, I mean "subscribe" for your music) if you want to listen while using other apps. Not worth the time.
Too expensive for the service

I just downloaded the app and got on the 14 day trial. I used to love using YouTube. Heck, I used it all the time. Then the bombardment of ads started shortly followed by YT Red. I'm cool with paying for a subscription, but my limit is about %60 of what they are asking. I mean c'mon. I pay less for Netflix which is a much more sophisticated service. This service still seems like it is in its beta. The fact that you can't make your own playlist just kills my desire to ever pay for this service. Bottom line is that there needs to be more. I do think they have the right idea though. Maybe in a year or so, it will be better.

If you don't have YouTube red don't bother it's literally the same as if you were to use the regular YouTube app. I was going to get YouTube red mainly for the offline mixtape but you can't choose the songs, it randomly selects them from your history I guess.
