Writemator - Plain Text Editor

Writemator is based on old WriteRoom app for iOS with all bug fixes and new features.
Category Price Seller Device
Productivity $2.99 AMIT CHAUDHARY iPhone, iPad, iPod

Writemator is a text editor designed to help you focus. Instead of bombarding you with lots of buttons and features like many traditional word processing packages so often do, Writemator is a plaintext editor with dropbox sync. That means no bold, italic or other formatting, no markdown (though you could write in markdown if you wanted to) and no support for adding pictures or other media. While the application is sparse on features, it is well thought out.

If you're a student spending long nights on your research paper, a journalist writing up your latest piece of news, or a novelist intensely typing away on your next creative work — Writemator is an app for you on your iOS devices.

Loved app until latest update broke Dropbox

Tried to load up the app but it crashes when trying to sync the Dropbox folders

Great Replacement for Writeroom
Blu 28

Looks terrific & is very responsive. Dark theme keyboard is a welcome innovation.

Very rare bug seems to fix itself
Truth we trust

It seems it had something to do with Dropbox syncing. After being accused by developer of intentionally leaving bad reviews, I took a closer look at the presumably broken app. I tapped around the screen and was able to create some new folders before the screen contents disappear, after multiple click somehow the screen stays and stopped disappearing and I also received my desktop notification from Dropbox that a lot of files have been changed( presumably it’s re-configuring my previous notes stored in the Dropbox folder). From that moment on, the app starts to work normally again. Also check out my video recording of the weird incident: bit.ly/2yUfQW

Good, but no word count as in the old version
nycwriterprof

It's great to have this app back as Writeroom was my favorite distraction-free writing tools. While there are some strong features here, esp. the Dropbox support and wide choice of fonts, which most comparable apps don't have, I don't see a word count, which is a must-have in this space. Perhaps the developer could add this easily? (I can search for spaces in a document and get a close approximation of words in the returned number of matches, but that's a kludge, isn't it?) The old Writeroom just displayed the word count as you wrote -- so simple. Anyway, keep up the good work. Thanks for the response on the word count feature. The old Writeroom — most other similar apps just offer a word count feature live at the bottom (or top of the screen). Many NaNoWrMo and similar writers need word counts to manage their writing time. And of course journalists and bloggers need this feature.... On a 1,000 word document, I had to scroll all the way up, then swipe again. Perhaps there’s a way to just display the word count in the corner of the document like in the old version?

Was working perfect and now:(

Very direct Dropbox access
jbmfc

Best feature for me is that it can be configured to, as soon as you launch it, go directly to a Dropbox folder. Next best feature, the Dropbox folder is synchronized so that when you’re offline you still have access to files, and any changes you make are synchronized the soon as you get back on. Works great for my field service business.

Broken
Room_Service

Downloaded last night. Added a few notes - none of which synced with Dropbox. Now today, the app crashes on startup every time I open it. It seems like you basically took Taskmator, removed the formatting system, and put a plain text editor in its place. I don't even think you can call this "re-skinning" an app. It's more like you took one constantly buggy app, removed some funtionality, and created a seperate yet equally unreliable "notes" version of Taskmator.
