When they presented the new application I thought it was going to be as it used to be before that is great content that could be easily accessed and enjoyed. However when I tried to log into the application I cannot get anything but two old issues. I cannot download previous issues that I already bought with my subscription, and I am facing the possibility of not being able to download any new issues in the future. Fortunately I have a printed copy that I receive monthly, albeit but that time all the news are not real news anymore. In conclusion: a great magazine with a poor application.
WS worries about copyright only. No article print feature as if we had a real magazine we’d not be able to make xerox copy and give somebody or publish. No need for this stupid app just sent s protected PDF if you worry about ease of use. Outside of this it’s OK. Cons are the real magazine is too small font with electronics you can zoom in and read.
Nov 24- New update. The app now is able to resume from where you left off on a magazine as long you keep the magazine open and close the app. When you come back and open the app, it now starts at the last page you read. The favorite option with the little star to save your page still does not work. You have to change the formatting of the magazine file to recognize individual pages so the favorite function works as planned. Once the favorite option works and iPad specific formatting of magazine, this app would get a five star. Check out Macworld magazine app for ideas. Oct 29- Just updated the app and it is faster than the old version, but bookmarking or "Favorites" function is still broken. Try to favorite or bookmark a page and it still does not save the right page. How can the developer miss this bug? I do not understand. It is a pain when you want to save a location of the magazine to read later and you open the app again and it starts back on the cover. Fail! Hope for a fix soon! Oct 6- The magazine is great but the app needs work. It needs optimization for speed and retina display. The magazine bookmark feature does not work as intended under iOS 6. I would love to have the magazine designed for the iPad's screen and add some interactive features such as interviews and commentary via videos. An iPhone optimized version of the app would also be wonderful. Thanks.
I love the magazine but the Apple Store's price is outrageous! The print magazine in the UK is about $45 annually. You can get the digital iPad edition on Zinio for $50. You can buy the print magazine in the US at Barnes & Noble for $5 per issue ($60 annually). So why in the world is the Apple Store price at $94.99 plus tax? I know that Apple takes a 30% cut so the publisher has to sell at a premium, but $94.99 is almost DOUBLE the Zinio price. Sama magazine, same digital format, DOUBLE the price! Common! Stay away! You can get it for much less at other places!
This app delivers the entire magazine to your iPad. Fantastic way to archive my favorite periodical.
