Amazing

carmend67

Works perfect for me, I am using this app everyday in the school. It help me to improve my vocabulary. It's just perfect

Wasted my time and money

Jamco

I tried removing ads on previous version to no avail. Now I'm getting nonstop JAVASCRIPT errors in the lookup field. Developer won't respond. Please bring back a paid version that is error free and ad free.

Not Optimized for Newer Devices

Potter6Plus

This app is very useful for finding not only regular translations, but also translations of phrases and special usage of words; however, it is still not optimized for iPhone 6/6s and 6/6s Plus devices which makes the text look horribly blown up and blurry. Please fix this asap!! Multitasking support for iPad would be an extremely useful addition as well!

Long time web user disappointed

EMarieNYC

WordReference has had an excellent website for years. I'd gladly pay for an app that even reflected the approach used in that web design and content. While I realize an app can't do everything a desktop can, we have come a long way. Some things about this are just not even intuitive. Like if I want to translate the English of "where" to the Russian of the word, I can see it... But the listen function plays the audio of how to pronounce only the English. Users are going back and forth presumably to gain knowledge of another language so there should be an easy way to link to the one you are looking up and hear it. I need this and can't make it work. Hopefully that's just me being inept. I really loved the website for years and would like a more robust and functionally suitable app. I'd pay for it.

Best Spanish-English app I've used

TrishaUMD

I study Spanish as my college major (and as a non-native speaker) and am very happy with this app and have used it for years. It is a quick reference for when I come across an unfamiliar word, especially for trivial, random vocab that varies between Hispanic countries. I'm glad that it shows multiple possible translations for words as they often depend on context, as well as example sentences for them. If you are looking to learn verb conjugations however, (as I am not) I would look for another app to download to have on your phone along with this one such as Spanish Dict. I love that on this app slang and dialect-specific words can easily be searched on online forums by another few clicks, this is especially helpful in understand Mexican conversation which is heavy in words you wouldn't find in a standard Spanish dictionary. Some are even in the dictionary and include the country of origin, which is very helpful for me. I will soon be a graduate student to teach Spanish in the near future and write this review only to express my gratitude. Creators, please keep up the great work expanding and perfecting this impressive pocket dictionary. 5 stars. Gracias por su ayuda en mis estudios

Doesn't work

Doesn't work at all

scrolling

aureap

I really like this application; only one thing; it's almost impossible to scroll on the latest version for my iPhone 6. Hopefully the next upgrade will correct this. Otherwise it would have been rated 5 stars.

Desktop version so much better

VikingKitty593

WordReference as a service is amazing -- I couldn't survive school without it. The mobile app, though, is clunky and inefficient. It looks like the desktop version spit through an algorithm to make it fit into mobile, but I think it would be better with a total redesign dedicated to mobile.
