I'm always looking for good word games in the App Store and this one has been a blast. I'm only on novice difficulty but even that has provided an enjoyable challenge. Check it out!
Excellent game. Different levels let you make it as challenging as you want Fun to play --use logic to solve the puzzles.
The idea is good it's like mastermind for words. But the words chosen or strange — words like "aroil" for example. I'm thinking this isn't a native English speaker who created this game.
An enjoyable deduction game: determine a hidden word based on feedback about the number of letters guessed correctly. Players can vary the difficulty by selecting the length of the target word (4-7) and selecting the amount of feedback given for each guess. Novel aspects include constraints on the number of letters in the guess words and the positions matched in the target word. A two-player mode is supported, although I have used only the single-player mode. Game can be played offline. Ads are unobtrusive. The interface is pretty good. The space for entering the final word guess is open throughout the game, allowing the player to make notes as letters are determined. In the hardest mode, Xtreme, players can manually toggle the color of letters in the guess words to more easily keep track of deductions. (In easier modes, colors are set by the game as part of the feedback.) I applaud the inclusion of the ability to show the definition of the target word at the end of a round. A couple of improvements would earn this game a solid five-star rating from me. First, and most urgently: the dictionary needs substantial work. The target word list currently includes proper nouns, e.g., MARY, and acronyms, e.g., AFRL. At the same time, the game disallows some fairly common guess words such as EKE. With names/acronyms possible as targets, the player can no longer rely on the "word" premise of the game: you might as well ditch the dictionary and simply play an arbitrary-string-of-letters version of Mastermind (which I would find much less interesting). A second suggestion, more in the nice-to-have category: allow the player to toggle the colors of the letter-selection buttons. This would be especially helpful in Xtreme mode to keep track of letters already guessed or confirmed. I would use this in the simpler modes as well, though, to differentiate between letters that have been confirmed, confirmed doubled, or not yet tested. Btw: to get more ratings, consider making it more convenient for the player to link to the review page from within the app, and perhaps remind the player after the first dozen (or so) games.
It's like a cross between Hangman and Mastermind: guess part of the hidden word, get clues on which letters were correct and in their proper places, and deduce the word. I think it's a very good game. If the interface could be tweaked a little to eliminate unnecessary taps, I would call it a great game. Speaking of great, I'd love to see Game Center support to show off my great scores. ;-)
I really love this game! A couple thing I would love to see is the keyboard a little larger and in the same configuration as a real keyboard or alphabetically. And I would like to be able to look back at previous scores and possibly a score board with other players. I have several people 'hooked' on the game already. And thanks for deleting the proper names. Otherwise it's very fun.
The game freeze sometimes. It seems to be related to how long before a phone reboot. Words in pro category are not always in the dictionary.
