Worth it

I love this app so much words I’m trying remember

Works well enough.

Does what you expect it to, except for the fact that it won’t send you push notifications for the time you specify. No matter what time I choose, I always get a reminder at 3pm.. you would think this would be an easy function to program…

Less ads

It could use less ads but either from that it’s really interesting and I am learning a lot!

Love it

I will help extend my vocabulary, knowledge and exercise my brain.

Broken after update 10/28/21

I just updated the app and now it has a continuous loading spinner where the word of the day should be and it also lost all my favorites. I’m more upset that it lost all my favorites at this point. Right now it’s unusable, please fix. I’m on iOS 14.5.1, please fix and push a new update.

The phobia app

grayh55

I downloaded this app to improve my vocabulary to prepare for the GRE. It even asked me what my goals were and studying for the GRE was the only option I selected. It has now given me 7 straight phobia words and several very abstract words that would have no application on the GRE test. I paid for the subscription and immediately regret it.

Uninstalled immediately after initial setup

I understand funding the app and pay for many apps that I enjoy because I hate ads and I love supporting apps by paying directly. However, from a UX/UI standpoint I have issues. After the initial set up, I was immediately asked to pay for the app before ever even seeing what it looks like to use. It included an annoying countdown offering 50% off, and I could let that part slide even though in my opinion it gives off scammy vibes anytime I see that. After closing the “offer” so I could try actually using the app, I was only able to see the home screen for a millisecond, not even enough time to read the word of the day much less the definition, before ANOTHER pop up asking me to pay for the app. Seriously? I haven’t even used it yet! How could I possibly know if I want to pay for it? Deleted the app and I will not reinstall. There are other word of the day style apps and services; I will continue my search.

Thank you!!!
