NOTE: You MUST have a copy of the X-Plane desktop flight simulator (NOT the same-named iPhone app) to use Wi-Fly Remote. This app is useless by itself! Please see requirements below.

FEATURES:

REQUIREMENTS:
- X-Plane version 8.50+ or 9.30+ on Mac OS X (10.5+) or Windows (sorry, Linux is not currently supported by the plugin).
- The free Wi-Fly Plugin available from http://danieldickison.com/wifly
- iPhone or iPod touch must be connected via Wi-Fi to the same local network as the computer running X-Plane.

Rudder control sets it apart

I utilize both this app and Laminar's remote app, but find myself consistently returning to this one because it offers a key feature Laminar's does not: rudder control. Also, Laminar's app only lets you use the remote for gears and throttle, etc. This app allows you to still use your keyboard commands in conjunction with. Two convenient presets allow for quickly switching between fixed wing and helo controls, and while a joystick and rudders work better, I love being able to fly helos on my laptop when traveling. This app was easy to set up and use, at least for default controls. One option I wish it had would be a preset for using the itouch/iPhone in landscape rather than vertical mode. All in all, the app does what is says and does it well. Money well spent for me.

One of the all time great plugins for X-plane. I've used it for 3 years and never needed a yoke or joystick. Recommend it to your friends and they'll thank you for it.
