"The App Store is filled with games that are easily comparable, and fit into particular styles and molds. Wardwell House isn’t one of those games, and instead creates a completely new experience"
Touch Arcade Forums:
"I can tell you that something doesn't feel right. Nothing scary's even happened yet but there's this looming cloud of...something over my head and the game terrifies me. Atmosphere's killer"
Well, it's somewhat interesting at first, but you basically advance from scene to scene by looking at things in your surroundings, in a forest, then a mansion you find. Then you can go forward to the next scene. Some things are pretty creepy and the music is somewhat good, and everything is in black and white for effect I guess. *****spoilers****** You start to get chased by the bad guy , then You then try to escape the mansion /island, and I guess you die, although it's not 100% clear . You see a bunch of newspaper headlines about you and the island, credits roll... Then you're back on the island. And everything is in color...I looked around, but then the game ended......unless I really missed something, wth...?
You can tell that there was a lot of work put into this, and it looks nice. A couple thoughts: - maybe get rid of the ability to play by moving the device itself? It is very distracting to have the whole picture change just because your iPad moves a little. - I found myself thinking, "okay, turn around in circles until text comes up and the arrow comes back" and wishing there was some sort of chime to let you know you were done turning around and around. It's not immersive yet. :/ I think the reason is just that the screen won't stay in one place if you physically move. - music was okay, but very noticeable when it loops. And this is awesome but, when it's raining, you can hear a guy say "shut up!" Haha.
Pretty good. Definitely creates a mood, I liked how the story was filled in at the end. The mechanics didn't quite work for me, but I can easily overlook that.
I was wowed when I just opened the game, but then the next 10 second I felt very dizzy and uneasy... I could not keep playing because of that. And I wish the can be a little hind about that I should zoom in at, spinning even just with my finger is very in comfortable.
The ending didn't really fulfill my desires. For example, why did the dolls with the red glowing eyes have glowing eyes. Like I understand that the guy was psycho and killed his family but the developers didn't expand well enough on the story. I would also like to see the option to actually make some decisions in the story instead of a set of rules I have to follow. And also, expand on the psycho guy and the dolls.
Great concept! I loved every creepy second. Would Love to play more games like this!
