Just wasted the last hour of my life trying to get this app to work. The concept is great, but don’t get your hopes up.

It has its bugs but it definitely works as long as your have the app open, have good data service and aren’t playing music.

As others have said, the walkie talkie app doesn't work if you are listening to music. You end up having to unlock your phone and launch the walkie app to broadcast of you're listening to music. Not easily accomplished with mittens on. I found a (lame) workaround for Apple users: 1. Set iPhone to never lock (no timeout) 2. Dim screen to save battery 3. Put phone in pocket with screen on and unlocked 4. Listen to music 5. When ready to broadcast, activate Siri by holding down both buttons for 2 seconds. 6. Wait for second tone and say "launch walkie talkie app" 7. Wait a second for app to load in your pocket. 8. Hold down right button for 3 seconds, speak your broadcast, and release button. GOOD LUCK!!

Horribly app. Friend and I both got the new chips for the walkie talkie feature. App doesn’t even allow us to setup a new group because when you try to add new members neither of us show up as an option. Total junk. Also the chips sound like garbage for the price. Have to turn turn bass down super low or the chips will crackle and pop from their joke of a bass driver . Junk

The chips work great for listening to music, however the walkie-talkie app is pretty useless. It works fine as long as you don’t want to listen to music as well - which is pretty much the whole point of having wireless chips to begin with. I saw the other reviews where ODT responded and said to contact the support department for help, so I did. They promptly told me they were not familiar with IOS or Android operating systems (what?), and that I would need to call my phone manufacturer for help. Sounds like they have a problem they are not willing to address. Seems like they should stop advertising the walkie-talkie feature until they can actually make it work. I would have bought the chips just to listen to music and been perfectly happy, but now that they’ve advertised the walkie-talkie feature and it just doesn’t work - I’m pretty disappointed.

Hopefully it gets better. The walkie talkie mode does seem to work with everything set just right but placing a phone call is way faster and less clunky. Music and phone calls for now. Maybe walkie talkie on the slopes some day.

Walkie talkie only works while app is open and you cannot send messages while listening to music. In response to the developer: yes I also believe it should work. It does not. Try again.

I have the shell ultra and the original turtle shell and neither app works on either one I’m a big fan of the speakers themselves I’ve owned every make and model and definitely tested their durability to the limits but as far as your apps go complete waste of space
