Colorblind and frustrated

Sick guy 8503

Being an artist has always been challenging for me because of my colorblindness. When digital art platforms made it possible for me to work with color in a more meaningful way it opened new doors for me that seemed impossible to pursue when I was younger. Had I been born a little later I might have pursued art professionally. That being said I really love using this app, but it brings back all the frustration of trying to create art without being able to trust my color palettes. Could I memorize a bunch of hexadecimal codes? Sure. Do I want to? No. And I want to be able to adjust my colors intelligently. Nothing is labeled. Even the color wheel doesn’t have a simple “R” by the red. And the swatches could easily be labeled “skin tone” “earth tones” “sky” .... something... anything more than a hexadecimal code.

Simple shapes but no editing features unless you pay.

Have to wonder what this is actually good for. You can only create basic shapes with the free version. Anything beyond that is behind a paywall. Sorry I’m not buying something without knowing how well it works.

Sketchy subscription model

BEWARE!! To use this software you have to sign up for a subscription plan. If you do the trial and don’t change or cancel it, you will get auto-enrolled in to the $3.99/week plan. That is almost $16/month, or $190/year!! That is $4 shy of a full copy of Illustrator which can do 100x what this app can do. I personally found the app silly. I quickly made the mistake of just deleting it from my device after a few minutes. Unfortunately that misunderstanding on my part only cost me $25.18 after weeks 6. Don’t make the same mistake!

My drafts lost due to your stupid syncing

My iCloud is full I know but why deleting my local changes and syncing every time I open the app? I totally lost my progress. F this app

Assembly

If you take the time to discover its almost limitless possibilities, you will have trouble putting your iPad down. Not only are there hundreds of shapes to start with, the shapes are almost infinitely changeable. The learning curve is a little steep: you have to tap everything before moving it. You have to figure out how to move, as opposed to change, a shape. The rules of play are initially a little strict: you can’t really draw your own objects from scratch, you can’t paint or draw per se, you have to think outside the shape. A little more specific explanation about the functions in the help menu would save some time. But after playing with it a while, you will find yourself moving and altering shapes in your sleep. I am deliciously obsessed with its possibilities. One important tip: if you find it lagging, restart your iPad. Love love love it. Thank you.

A Great Vector App for Artist

Cestista23

I can’t state how much I love this app. It is essential to my business and the art I am able to create. I recommend it to any artists creating vector art.

Great app!

Subscription?

Why is everything subscription-based nowadays? Can’t I just buy the app? No....no you can’t.

Good but frustrating lag

prosperr

I have an iPad Pro and after having the app open for 30 min or so, the app slows down a ton. There are whole seconds that pass between tapping on a shape and the shape actually being selected. The lag is very disruptive of my workflow. It wasn’t always like this! The app used to work fine. I don’t know what happened. Now I find myself having to force restart the app multiple times in an hour (doing so gets rid of the lag for a bit.) If the app was free, I’d care less, but I am paying a yearly subscription to use it...
