Bloody tales from Hungary!

Izzyoc

Looks like Big Fish heard the outraged cries from the last Puppetshow game crashes, and gave us another game early. This is an oldie (released back in Dec. '14 on PC) but so far it's not half bad and shaping up to be a decent time-waster. The story: you are a gypsy "finder" (slight twist on the usual detective), hired to find a missing girl. Interesting take on the historical Countess Elizabeth Bathory de Ecsed who was a serial killer in the late -1500's who supposedly killed hundreds of young women. The game doesn't skimp on this background with a fairly graphic opening scene. Game mechanics: smooth transitions between scenes, mostly clear graphics, somewhat cartoonishly drawn characters. No custom mode of play, but there is a transportable map which shows areas of action. Goodies: collectable, morphing tarot cards in each scene - some of them fairly well blended into the background. HOGs have some variety, most with small interactions needed, silhouette versions. Upcoming games from Big Fish: Dark Parables: Goldilocks and the Fallen Star (3.4 stars, Eipix, Nov' 15) Fear for Sale: House on Black River (4.3 stars, EleFun, Mar. '16) Phantasmat: Behind the Mask (4.3 stars, Eipix, Dec. '15) Cadenza: Havana Nights (3.9 stars, Mad Head, Mar. '16) Artifex Mundi: Lost Grimoires 1 (hoping they bring this to iOS when released on Nov. 10th)

Vampire Legends - bloody good game!

Dracyy

You play a gypsy who is trying to find a lost girl. Your caravan is wonderfully stocked with herbs which you plant, collect and turn into potions. Gorgeous scenery, collectable taro cards in every scene, well done mini games and much more. Has vampire theme and blood but no overt in your face violence. Verdict: BUY!

Excellent so far

Just started but so far very excited. Haven't played a good bf game in a while. Will write more......

Glitchy again?!

Hank415

Second glitchy game in a row! Mosaic in crypt won't trigger so now I'm stuck in the crypt and can't move on. The one I bought before this was also glitchy and I couldn't finish. What a waste of money. Very disappointed. Your games used to be really good, but not lately.

Yet another dud! Game makes no sense! This is the second dud in two days! Does anyone play these games before it is released for play? I want a refund again! Loosing faith in Big Fish at this point! Time to delete this game too Big Fish! You need to refund everyone and not make us go through Apple app store to do it! Make these games free for trial first!

The Fangs Are Out! I'm Wearing A Turtleneck Tonight!

Fellow Players: I just glanced at BF's Facebook page and saw that "Lost Lands: The Wanderer" has been released for PC/Mac; there's a short YouTube video clip available. This means that it should eventually port over to iPad. Since information is not yet noted on FIVE-BN's website, I'm not sure whether Big Fish is releasing it or the developer will be releasing it directly; anyways, can't wait! I love vampires; thematically, they are my favorite material across all genres of entertainment, including movies and literature. The ambiance here is appropriately malevolent and noxious as you traverse around an old medieval-styled village set in a desolate and shadowy area in Hungary; you meet various characters within the village pubs and shops who warn you of the sinister countess - she being an evil lady who strangleholds the citizens in ceaseless despair and apprehension. The artwork exhibits graphic and macabre imagery, such as the cold and silent stares of the faces of murdered victims with their blood-stained throats; the horror-stricken screams of young, innocent maidens as they are on the brink of demise; and the red-piercing eyes of a mysterious, baleful villain. The graphics are substandard in quality and presentation; they lack a polished and refined sophistication with regards to the sharpness and clarity of details. The colors contrast each other at times; the darker background brings the brighter tones, such as the iridescent candles and the moon's glare, into focus. Custom settings are absent; you are restricted to three choices, which, depending on your selection, preclude one from rebuffing those nettlesome sparkles and tapping penalties. Inventory is labeled and interactive; items require assembly. The map is rendered as fruitless; available actions are not indicated in the second mode. The HOS are threadbare of novelty and cleverness; there are no distinct elements to differentiate them from the traditional forms that we have interacted with during the past few years. The puzzles are simple, recycled, and uninspiring; you will intermittently slide bars of image segments to form a picture. The collectibles are mostly conspicuous in setting; they are descriptive in nature, which adds a sense of revelation. I feel as though I am playing an old-schooled Eipix game; for example, lousy graphics, no custom settings, and an inadequate map. In addition, there's a shortage of originality and imagination, which largely diminishes any attention-grabbing aspects. Big Fish prematurely released this game due to the horrendously erroneous "Puppet Show"; this game ceases to rectify that shortfall. I hope we are getting a surprise on Thursday in the form of an additional game. My true rating is 2.75 stars; however, I am giving this 3 stars due to fluid transition and a glitch-free experience.

Lots of fun

Gypsies, herbs, poisons and potions. What could be better. Teleporting map. Enjoying myself immensely.

Good up till the end...glitch

Samsmith848

I was enjoying this game until I got to the scene where the building is on fire. It won't let me put my planks in to finish so now I'm stuck....really freaking annoying

Waste of money

Roxcyn

This game is full of glitches. The storyline is lazy, as are the (very few) mini-games. They are basically all the same. Now I am stuck in the past, with no options. It will not let me place the mosaic pieces on the board, even though I have them both. It won't let me continue any further. I want a refund. Worst game ever released by Big Fish.

Note to all gamers/reviewers: DO NOT BUY the new PUPPET SHOW yet. It is unplayable! It kicks you out and won't load. BigFish is aware of the problem and says they are waiting on an update! This was the 2nd glitchy game in a row they released. If you have problems with The Orb of Purity please read Dracyy's review and heed the advice. I was able to complete the game when I did exactly what Dracyy suggested so many thanks to the wonderful and clever Dracyy! Also thank you Izzyoc for giving us a heads-up regarding upcoming game releases! You guys are amazing! I hope you all are sick of BigFish not monitoring the quality assurance of these new games. It is very important to contact them and voice your frustrations and complaints. The more people who do so, the faster they will address the problems! Thanks everybody! Especially after hearing back from BigFish that they have no idea when ERS will update Puppet Show!JUST DO NOT PURCHASE IT YET!!! On to this game! Dracyy, it's a good thing you saved us with Orb of Purity, but seriously you should have warned me about that huge RAT at the end of the game! Almost one dead Lynx! This game was decent but I felt it was dated. There was no customizable difficulty level, but three from which to choose. Although the graphics were pretty there was a lot of pixelation going on, the characters were cartoonish, and I could not follow the story. A journal would have helped. There were many locations, as this was a lengthy game, and luckily there was a teleport map to transport you. It wasn't the best map I have ever seen, but at least loading was instantaneous between locations. You collect morphing tarot cards at each location. Inventory was labeled and there were complex items to assemble. The HO scenes had some variation and I liked most of the puzzles too, even some of the rotational ones. The most fun I had was creating the potions and elixirs in the gypsy wagon; that was different and interesting. What I didn't like was the flow of the game. A lot of hard tapping was required to find areas of interest as well as during inventory usage. That drove me crazy, because I felt unsure of what to do and usually that is never the case. It wasn't a bad game but the quality could have and should have been better! BigFish you need to start giving us glitch-free blockbusters again, and you need ERS to issue an immediate update for Puppet Show! We are not paying for bugs or fatal flaws! Lynxie sends ❤️?? to my amazing DTE, and we all must bombard BigFish with criticism if we want games that have better quality assurance and great gameplay!
