I’ve been using this app for many years and it’s great!

White space

Kliev

It seems weird that on an 11” iPad, with text set to tiny and thumbnails off, I can still only see 4 articles in a list. Maybe I’m missing something.

Beautiful app

Taurus123

I have always viewed Unread as second best to Reeder but Reeder is looking more and more like an abandoned app. So I decided to dive into Unread. I have to say there is a lot to like about this app! The reading environment is beautiful, all the themes are great! What I love the most about this app is that it has good defaults. I didn’t have to spend hours making this app usable, it doesn’t have pages and pages of settings. It was very easy to use out of the box. The only thing I’m hopeful to see in the next update is some powerful workflow options or integration with Siri Shortcuts.

Only swipe to go back?

daedalus97

As someone who doesn’t normally use the swipe to go back gesture, I find the app extremely confusing when that is the only option to navigate back. The navigation bar provides context of where you are in the app with the title and a clear way to go back with the back button. To omit both makes navigation of the app really confusing even with the on-boarding at the start.

My Top 2 iOS apps

The Hoi Polloi

I have used it every day for 4 years now; this along with a podcast app that I won't mention here, are absolutely the top 2 best designed iOS apps and must haves. I am a news junkie and that means tons of reading (and listening) and knowing what to skip so you focus on what is relevant and skip what you have read before. There is no other easier way to design this than what Unread has been doing. At least I don't know of a better app after having used 300 apps of all kinds in 10 years, and I don't even do gaming apps, I mostly use productivity apps. This one is in my Top 2, and truly deserves the only app review I have ever given. One thing I don't want the app designer to change is font. Please do not .. wait, dare not.. change from Whitney font. Nothing else can ever be so clean and pristine. I hear what other reviewers are asking you to change but perhaps as an old-timer, I would like you to just retain what you have. It's neat, compact and most well designed that I can see. I would in fact encourage you to move to a subscription model where readers pay at least $10 each year. It will keep some people away but I think that's a better model to sustain your business and not worry about closing shop than a one time unlock. You app is worth far more than $10 for a lifetime.

Great rss app

The best way to read the web

This app is a delight. The design is impeccable and the details are thoughtful. I look forward to reading content here. Thanks!

Article list view needs options

mark2series

Thumbnails are too big, article list view has too much empty space and is not dense enough. No options to configure save for font size.

How about a "save the last reading position"?

ideavs

It's already good enough. Feeling too much to ask. ? Could be better if it can remember the last feed viewed in a folder and the last article in a feed.

Longtime favorite

Unread does a lot right. From its clean readable type and eye friendly dark themes it's long been my go to along with Reeder. It's generally seemed more supported and I've found it most reliable, I do wish it had better modes for filtering basic things like "only show unread articles in this list" that I've always found a particular pain though. That is an all or nothing master setting only, and ultimately my number one peeve that holds the app back (as well as any search ability) Still hopeful to see where it goes under the new owner.
