Good visual novel
Riverwander

To me think the story was good but the translation is rather rough, understandable but strangely worded. Also if they could it would be great if they could fix the bug where all the type leaves the box and floats in the upper left hand corner sometimes

What a disappointment
Darth Tigger

Interactive graphic novels have been big in Japan almost since computers got color screens, but for some reason the genre has never caught on in the U.S. So when I saw this game for the iPad, and saw that it was in English, I was very excited to say the least. Boy, was I ever in for a disappointment. First, the story – a totally unoriginal, young male fantasy fulfillment dramedy. Two hot girls fight over a clueless boy (you). One acts like she hates him while really having a secret crush (and waiting on him hand and foot), the other a childhood friend who has suddenly returned to town all grown up and beautiful – and immediately declares her love for him. Sound familiar? Yeah, like 99% of all the worst harem anime in Japan. Second, the graphics – they are not, I repeat *not*, HD. You can see the pixel doubling pretty easily, despite the publisher's efforts to use Gaussian blur to cover up the fact that the graphics were not originally hi res. Third, the translation – terrible doesn't begin to cover it. Much of it is so bad, it's almost indecipherable. It reads like they ran the script through Google Translate and left it at that. Honestly, an anime fansub club would have done a vastly better job (not that they would have bothered for such recycled dreck). Finally, the programming – I won't be so harsh as to say it's bug-ridden. But the first bug I hit halted me in my tracks. The first time the story stops to allow you to "touch" one of the girls (no, really, I'm not kidding), you can touch her all day long but the story never moves forward. Well, maybe that's a feature then? Yeah, I know, it's only $.99. And if it weren't for that bug stopping me only a dozen pages in, I might be tempted to give it a slightly higher rating. But even for $.99 I think the customer has a right to have a program that works. Anyway, your call if you want to try it. Beyond the pixel doubling, the graphics are okay, if hackneyed and totally lacking in originality. Maybe if they fixed the bugs, properly up-res'd the graphics and got a descent translation of the script, this would be a light, fun distraction. As it is, it's pretty worthless.

Not what I hoped
Gedeji

I was very excited to see the first Visual Novel by m-kz on iPad. Unfortunately, it was not meant to run at the iPad resolution, and the graphic looks scaled up from a smaller version. The story didn't really introduce anything really interesting or unique, and the characters were rather deriative to me. Hopefully, the next production will succeed…

Wow, this is bad.
KeiKaemon

It's all good... Until you get to the translation. It's just bad, no wait, worse than bad, it's horrible. Things like "should up" instead of shut up, weird grammar so on And so forth. People, don't waste money on this, it's about a bad of a translation as "Gift"

Pretty good
BigBadRichard

Okay YES we get it the translation has horrible grammar no need to rant. And I've seen the plot in thousands of anime and manga. But it's still pretty good and the only problem is the grammar which could use a bit of revision though it's still understandable. Overal it's a good app and with the lack of decent sims available on the iPod it's worth the dollar and I would like to see more.

"Falling petals are not so much. But they are falling certainly."

Twilight Cherry is a creature of unkempt cliché and god-awful translation. While it's tempting to defend it (considering it is one of the few visual novel games on the App Store), lazy animation and lackluster design hinder this from being anything worth viewing--let alone reading. For starters, all of the characters are frozen in perpetually awkward poses. One girl looks as though she's incapable of straightening her arms, supporting an invisible weight bar at chest level for all eternity. Watching the poorly imagined facial expressions of the characters twitch on their lifeless bodies is both pathetic and laughable. I'd feel bad for them if they weren't so bland and unimaginative. Where Twilight Cherry suffers most is the dreadful translation. All of the issues you've heard griping over in the other reviews is a bitter understatement and detracts from any “tone” or “mood” the narration struggles to set across. Let's put it this way: imagine the most shattered English you've ever read/heard. Got it? Now double that. Voila! You have Twilight Cherry! While you can always argue "But it's just a dollar," that dollar should be put toward one of the hundreds of other apps that warrant that price tag. Whether you're looking for a cheap laugh or a heaping 350MB download of disappointment, Twilight Cherry definitely has something for you. Avoid at all costs.

Garbage
Datsdaguy23

Want my money back the English is so broken it is impossible to read

Eh... So-so
BloodyHaze

It's an ok app, but has A LOT of potential. The English is pretty broken... It seems you used it in a online translator. The characters should have more movement instead of one position.

well pretty good ..
ChrisRolls

well , pretty good actually , i like the story line and stuff .. but the thing that is pretty bad is the translation is not that good , but understandable .. and the story is waaaayy to short ... they could have make it longer ..

This game has a good story but
U~turn

There are a few bugs that bother me like the one where I'm not sure if you can call this a bug but the words go up on the corner of the screen instead of it being on the notebook word box and there a few grammatical errors but the story is still readable in any case my overall review is 4 stars because of the bugs but the story to me is worth 5 so if you have time please fix these bug thank you!
