The best Twitter app I'll never use again

Peejayfixie

Tweetbot had been my app of choice for years, with all the features I liked best, and the aesthetics and style I felt most comfortable with. I'd still be using it if it weren't for one thing: dropped tweets. That's right: the tweets of people I follow were not appearing on my timeline. This is really hard to notice if you follow more than a handful of people, so it could have been going on for a while before I finally figured it out. But when it failed to deliver a reply from someone, that drew my attention to the problem. Tweetbot was failing to do its essential task! If it can't deliver tweets to my timeline, or to my replies, I cannot trust it ever again. I hope Tweetbot figures this out, because I really preferred it from a design point of view, but I cannot forgive this essential breakdown. I'm already used to Twitteriffic, and will likely stay there. Sorry guys, you screwed up.

Best Twitter app

I've been using Tweetbot since it was first released in 2010. It's by far the best Twitter app available. This update is great. Being able to use 3D Touch within reply threads and basically everywhere is what I always wanted. The filters feature is a nice touch, though I wish I didn't have to be at the top of a timeline in order to configure it.

Unsupportive Devs

Composed use

Always jumps to the very top of my timeline as soon as I open the app, making it impossible to catch up on previous tweets. Developers contact in app is disabled. Previous versions were worth the price, this one is not until they fix these issues.

Way better than Twitter app

Tweetbot 4 blows away the Twitter app I really like this app a lot

Not worth a switch

Pros: List handling, Search features, filters (as a concept), navigation, dark/night mode Cons: photo handling, viewing profiles, complicated setting up filters, clunky gestures, price, sounds, notification/mention handling I gave tweetbot 4 a shot when it went on sale for half price a few weeks ago as an attempt to try new apps out. First impressions were nice. Dark mode is much appreciated and as a list user for managing what content I want to see when, I appreciated having much easier access to them in the navigation bar at the bottom. Navigation is fairly easy thanks to the nav bar too. First impressions wore off soon though as I quickly began to miss features from the main Twitter app. Viewing photos other than the most recent 9-12 posted is impossible unless you set up filters through a complicated unintuitive process. There is no gallery feature like with the main app. Hope you don't like swiping through a photo set either because it only works about half the time. You'll have to back out of the photo set and go back in several times before you can swipe through to the next one. Swiping away the photo to continue scrolling is inconsistent at best and is a clunky, irritating animation. Mentions and activity are in two separate locations, which don't suit my needs. I actually do want to know who is retweeting and liking my posts at the same time I'm viewing mentions. Oh and good luck figuring out how to view who has liked and retweeted a specific post in a list (like you could when you tap likes/retweets on the post in the main app). You have to go to another third party system, authorize it, and then pay to see your most popular post. The sounds are jarring and awful like someone doesn't know how to adjust audio levels. Gestures, although a nice thought, are clunky. I can rarely swipe left to like a post without swiping all the way into a reply. Lastly profiles don't have a tweets, media, likes window. It's just a profile preview where you see a small handful of recent tweets and photos (but only if they're not replies or retweets), or ALL tweets. You have to set up your own filters, which as I said, is a clunky and unintuitive process. Certainly wasn't worth half price of $4.99 (seriously?) and DEFINITELY wasn't worth $9.99. You're better off sticking with the main app.

Good app but doesn't worth $9.99

A lot of futures is not including this app need to get in: 1- Allow us to send pics in Direct Massages. 2- You should show us when we see the followers or the following, who following us back. 3- Pin a tweet. 4- we need vote future in tweetbot 5- move the delete to an icon And another stuff but this what really matter and make the app worth $9.99

Best
