This is amazing! Anyone who wants to be on top of earthquake activity around the planet for school projects, current events or basic interest THIS IS THE APP! Updates every 5 mins! I find it fascinating how much activity is going on & how very little of it hits the news!! Just a great tool to get info news media tend to ignore! The wild fire app is another awesome app to download!

Currency of data, graphic display and UI are intuitive, enabling easy interaction. Very useful to geoscientists!

Love how you can search the whole earth. Helpful for seeing, hour, day, week, month. I even like how the app will show you if the earthquake has a tsunami warning!

Very useful app for anyone interested in earthquakes and earthquake research. Very educational and highly recommended.

There was a 7.2 magnitude quake (pretty big) in Mexico about 90 minutes ago. There is nothing that shows you within this app. I was alerted by a news app. Even hunting for a known quake is pointless with this app. Don't expect to see anything right after it happens. This example makes this app a total waste of money.

This is a nice app but what it really needs is the ability to utilize the iPhone accelerometer to detect earthquakes and automatically share that data to the cloud and/or the USGS. Only when enough similar readings are detected from a certain region within a narrow timeframe would the data be considered legitimate and then be pushed back out to the map for all users to view. The app could also be active only at certain times of the day/night that the user defines. As well as only be active when connected to pre-defined wifi networks. Such as Home or work. Another option would be to only take accelerometer reading when it is plugged into power (such as when on your night stand or connected to a computer USB). The app could also use the iPhone GPS to disable sensor reading when moving. As well as only record seismic data when the app detects the iPhone is laying flat on its back. Another option would be to disable the seismic sensor data output when a face is detected with the front facing camera. Requiring the app to be running in the foreground would also further prevent false readings. This could easily, quickly, and cheaply create a huge network of seismographs around the world.

when I hear about EQs ! Use regularly on my twitter feed , just an all around great app showing EG on globe . Love it if they'd put fault lines & plates , but I sure can live with this app ! Real five pointer !

This app worked great and was a 5 star app until about 2 weeks ago and it has stopped completely on my iPad and iPhone. My friends app quit working too. I just deleted and re-loaded and it still does not work. Now it gets only 1 star for the pretty color atlas. Get it working again and it will be a 5 star app again.
