The gameplay of THE 80’s arcade game is fully replicated!
A schoolgirl flies and runs through beautiful scenes in Japan and defeats approaching enemies!
Story:
You are a Japanese high school girl. For some reason you have to defeat bad enemies traveling around Japan holding a guitar shaped weapon.
Features:
- No frame drops! Smooth 60 frame-per-second movement. (Checked on iPhone 4S and later.)
- Easy control by tilting the device or touching the screen with auto rapid fire.
- Control the position of the character directly by the angle of the device, as if you were controlling with the stick of the arcade game. Of course you can flip the up/down directions and also features adjustable gyro sensitivity.
- You can take screen shots in the game and tweet or share them. Show off your high scores and nice photos!
- Game Center support: compete with players around the world for the highest score!
- Play time bonus function: number of your lives will increase as you play. You’ll complete the game eventually? If not, you can buy more lives through in-app purchase. Ads removal function is also available for purchase.
- Beginner friendly design: you can be hit dozens of times until you encounter the first boss.
- Costume changing feature. You can change to a school sailor uniform when your accumulated score has reached 30,000,000 points!
- Music player feature. You can enjoy the background music used in the game!
Instead of TravelShooter, this game should be called "Ad Shovelware Harrier" instead - there's ads on the start and pause screen, full screen ads between levels, and mandatory 5 second full screen autoplaying video ads on retry. I love Sega & Space Harrier and, to be fair, this game is actually a pretty good adaptation with decent controls and a novel premise of touring Japan. Even the title is a (probably accidental) cool reference to Trouble Shooter/Battle Mania, a rad run and gunner on the Genesis. The schoolgirl as a main character concept in a Space Harrier-clone has already been done way back on the Famicom in Animal Attack Gakuen though. Anyway, this game constantly bombards ads at every break and really takes away from whatever atmosphere the game had going, and just cheapens the experience entirely. If the ads were reduced to just banners on the Start & Pause screen, it'd be a much better game. Sorry, man. I know developers have to make a living but there's a better way than this. Have some integrity, please?
Anyone with a love for Space Harrier should give this hidden gem a try; the tilt controls work extremely well with this kind of gameplay once you get the hang of it.
What a fantastic tribute/rethinking of SH. This game deserves to be infinitely more known/successful. Well done developers and thank you!
S.H. is one of my favorite games of all time. This game actually takes a ton from it. Very good.
