TraptionBakery

An Upcyclepunk Postimperial Curio.
Category Price Seller Device
Games Free Jonathan Prestidge iPhone, iPad, iPod

A curio for some or a right old puzzle for others, make no mistake.
Some say: some folk actually managed to bake a loaf of bread using this confounded contraption... but that is rumoured to be just a rumour.

There's no pressure... relax, ponder, prod, clank, crank, pull, push, watch... ponder more....sleep on it maybe... come back to it...ponder.

Along with the intriguing artwork there is the challenging puzzle with the ultimate objective of baking a loaf, but you can enjoy solving easier mile stones along the way like: ordering some grain, starting the mill, then milling yourself some flour, with this huge fully functional contraption. Look for clues written on the equipment, listen to the sound scape, and fathom the interconnections. Once you have solved the puzzle of how to bake a loaf then the simulator aspect of the game becomes apparent: you have to get the ingredients, mixing, proving and baking just right if you want to aspire to bake the perfect loaf. Your baking efforts are judged right at the end of the process... whether they be good, or bad.

"Is it steampunk?", some would ask. Well there is no steam and it is a contemporary contraption, but it is bigger scale than your modern new-fangled machines so you can see what does what with your very own eyes like in the good old days...
and it's tech that repurposes, reuses, and recycles, welcome to: "Upcyclepunk".

So worth the price!

D1vi8 from touch arcade wrote this and it sums it up perfectly. It's a very very large complicated puzzle for patient people: "Well, I got a first little part of the machine finally working and the way you can make that part work is brilliant! You have to read carefully and then think logical. I am no longer hesitating now, 5 stars. I wasn't aware of it when I started this game, but sounds are probably very important. Well at least it was to solve my first little thing. And my god, it is rewarding. If you look at the screenshots, the game may seem static. But is is a drawing that becomes alive when you manipulate it. And it is very well done, the art is fantastic."

While I'm not really much of a puzzle gamer, this one drew me in. Being able to figure out this contraption and make it work was one of the best puzzler experiences I've ever had. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, from the way the game is designed, to the artwork, all of the small details that become clearer as you zoom in... the thought behind every little thing and how it all interacts with everything else, it's all absolutely perfect. I can't recommend this one enough to puzzle fans.

Amazing puzzler
wahmetapul

Quite hard. Reminds me of one of xkcd style drawings. Super detailed. Really creative. I have made almost no progress in this massive puzzler so far but I wanted to get down a quick initial review. It actually reminds me a bit of the old Monty Python pc game where the point of the game is to figure out the point of the game. I can see this game taking hours to puzzle out.

Fancy not required
Mr Myk

The game is not fancy and beautiful, but it is SUPER creative, and the detail is AMAZING. You keep zooming and zooming to find notes and details you didn't know were there. It's not an easy puzzle, but it's a wonderful place to explore. I'm getting though it, but it is quite challenging. Looking forward to figuring it out.

Genius

This is a highly creative, addictive game that gets you to use your noggin. I have never come across a game like this that grabs your attention. The animation is great even despite having no color. Would love more like this!!!!

One of the strangest games ever played
Servo922

"Unique" doesn't quite capture the sense of this bizarrely clever puzzler. The combination of realism (actually needing to know how to properly mix dough for bread), pencil sketching (graphics are decidedly plain, but exceptionally and creatively drawn), length of gameplay (thinking through this game took hours, though it all takes place on one screen. Simply brilliant!), and insanity (alien monkeys?!?) are the perfect ingredients to bake this loaf of a deceptively intelligent iOS puzzle game. Buy, explore, think, try, fail, think and try again, succeed. Quite the rewarding experience if you do.

Looks fascinating, however...

Are there any clues besides the highlighted blue levers, buttons, wheels etc...?

Doesn't work

I cannot get the app to work. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. app will not open.

Fantastic.

I love this game. It has taken hours and hours of play to figure out how to relate all of the working parts to one another, however, that makes it great! Love the graphics and creativeness!

Quite Possibly The Most Enthralling Thing Ever
IrritableBadger

I downloaded this just after our baby was born. When I put it down he was in college. I don't know the words to describe this app. All I can tell you is try it.
