This is a good time waster. A lot of activity lots going on, not a pinball type game where you have to rely on reflexes, but you still have to move pretty quickly to cover all the bases. It starts fun, but some of the challenges get nearly insurmountable as you go further into the different areas. As you progress, it will become much more important to have purchased items or upgrades available in order to win. When you get to some of the higher levels there is no way to win without the purchased items. There is a review saying you can win all of the games without making any purchases. I'm fairly good at assessing a situation and analyzing numbers. This game, at its most basic, is a numbers game. There are some fundamental limits on those numbers in some of the scenarios and they cannot be overcome. Put simply, there are at least half a dozen of the scenarios which are not winnable without using purchased components of some sort. As an example, I have watched a couple videos where they talk about strategies for winning. When I watch the video it is clear something is different on the video screen than in the game on my iPad. I'm not trying to steer you away from the game, just give you fair warning. That said, it is an OK game and will occupy some of your time with a mildly entertaining app. There are a few moments of panic, but you can always pause the game. It doesn't mean you're going to win, but you do get a chance to look things over before making your next move. Don't take it too seriously and just except the fact you're going to lose ----- a lot. One thing that would make this better is if you have some actual strategy. Right now, as opposing units pass, your people have the chance to shoot and destroy the opponent units. In order to do that, they have to hit a number of times. At that point it is simply a numbers game. You put your forces in the various positions and essentially hope for the best. You do not, for example, get to set a priority for targeting. Buying the special items means you get substantial improvements in capabilities and in some cases you get to manually wipe out your opposing unit. Actually, that's kind of fun. Unfortunately, those upgrades can be pricey. Also, fair warning. I play this on an iPad. It can drain the battery very quickly. Ended up deleting this app after seeing some of the other reviews which said this was, essentially a pay to play game when you got to higher levels. I don't mind paying once, but paying as you go gets expensive.
