When I first saw this game on the App Store I was happy to finally have another shoot-em-up to play. From the ship selection screen I knew this game was nothing more than a copycat. Everything about it is stolen from one of the best games on iOS. The game is called Phoenix HD. Made by Firi games, it's one of the most polished games on the App Store. With almost 10 playable ships and leaderboards there is never a moment of boredom. Thunder fighter stole two of the ships from Phoenix ( the phoenix and the trinity) while only changing look of the ships. The default ship in Thunder Fighter is identical to the Phoenix in right down to the weapon upgrades. The backgrounds are ripped right from Phoenix as well. The placement of your health and score are in the same place as well. The enemies all have weapons that were originally from Phoenix. The only original thing about this game is the combo system that will give you a devastating energy beam, which is also ripped from phoenix with a simple color swap. Yet somehow while taking all of this from such a classic game could improve the game overall it drops the ball on this as well. It removes the color filter that let you know your health was low meaning you could be about to die and not know it. I couldn't find a way to recover health. You take way too much damage from a single hit. There isn't even a sound effect for you getting hit, so you have to take your eyes away from a fast paced bullet hell to make sure you didn't lose any health. On top of all of this, the game is filled with ads you can't skip after every death. There is no reason to play this game ever. If you think this game is fun, I implore you to check out Phoenix HD. There is more enjoyment to be had, with none of the inconvenience.
