This app is unstable. It is to quick to change pages and the latest version always opens in a very small format and you have to change it before you can proceed.
No search feature

This is simply a digitized version of the print paper, making it harder to read. There are no modern features to make the paper customizable or even useful. There is no search. There is no ability to look at yesterday's paper.
Too complicated

I used to be able to just open the app and read the paper. Now it takes several clicks and the app does not remember that I want left to right full screen. It does not open full screen so when viewing the whole page the image is smaller and hard to read so I have to keep manipulating the screen. Ads are inserted between pages. I just want to open the app and read without all the fuss.
Stop the ad attacks

We pay dearly for a subscription to the digital newspaper edition and this new app is full of pop up ads and horribly intrusive messages! Please give us an app that reflects our paid subscription; otherwise we will just search out other public news sites for our news (albeit with their own ads) and quit paying for a service from The Observer that has deteriorated. We have been forced to give up the old app that, while having shortcomings at least was not intrusive. Every other page and corner of this app is an ad (not in the print edition). PS to Apple Support: did you know your asinine review software code obliterates your comments if you pick a duplicate nickname? Do you guys test this stuff?

It used to be a decent place to see local news but has completely turned into an left-wing, extremely biased tabloid. Please stop Observer, jeez. Aren't you embarrassed to call yourself a news source? You make me cringe with this garbage.

This is the worst app! Even the review section is awful. Nickname was taken, so my fully type review was lost. This is total nonsense. Will never renew this subscription!

Wish I could recycle this app. Absolutely the worst reading app. No wonder newspapers are dying. Get with it Charlotte Observer. It's 2017. I was forced to give it 1 star!
Not surprised at all

I expected much more from this app. Of course, seeing the lousy business practices of McClatchy & Co., and more specifically, The Charlotte Observer, it's really no surprise! Quite honestly, it's rather the norm for them anymore. Can't find anything and very difficult to find a specific article, especially since there is no "search" bar. If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch. Take a lesson from The NY Times app -now that's a great app. And before you go thinking I'm from "up north" - I'm not! I'm from right here in Charlotte!
