This is basically just a knockoff of XCOM, but with obnoxious free-to-play timers and currency. Do yourself a favor and get the real thing - you'll be happier, your kids will love you (for once), and you can help send the message that this crap is tiresome.
Good idea with significant issues

I like that you can control your units. The game crashes too much which heavily punishes your pvp score. The matchmaking system isn't very good

A terrible XCOM ripoff with bad voice acting and controls. Just go buy XCOM EW,it's way better.

Ok start to game. Initial upgrades take a fair amount of time and resources but not terrible. Just means more breaks between missions
