Used to be great. Now an obvious ripoff.

This app was the best in it's class, but now the developer has gotten greedy. Basically you have to pay 99 cents per song which have the possibility of being inaccurate like most tabs are. Trying to download tabs using the built in browser has been made useless, again, by the developer. It takes FOREVER to load the browser pages on my iPhone 6 plus with fast internet connection. On top of that, the auto tab detect doesn't even work half the time like it used to work.

One Problem

I absolutely love this app. I've had it since about 7th grade and I'm now in my junior year in high school. The only problem I am reporting is that the screen on TTK will not fit my entire screen on the new IOS 9. (I play mostly technical death metal, and need all 27 frets)

Great app but please update

Been using this app for the longest time now. Got the iPhone 6s today and extremely disappointed that is not optimized for it. Otherwise 5 stars.

Once great app that is now outdated

I bought this app several years ago when the iPad 2 first came out. Back then I would have easily given it five stars but since then the team seems to have stopped updating it. The last major update was version 2, which introduced their tab store, and added updates for the iPhone 4s and iPad 2. The 4s?! That was released in 2011! At least the app still works in the newest iOS versions, but they haven't even updated it to look like it was made recently. Opening up the keyboard or browser still shows the old iOS style, not the flatter look of iOS 7. They haven't even updated the iPhone version for the bigger screen of the 6, and that's been out for over a year. The browser is incredibly slow with ultimate guitar. Not sure if there was some behind the scenes war going on between the two companies over tab access, but it was pretty much unusable until I found out that you could browse the site in regular Safari and just open the tabs in tabtoolkit directly. Basically, the software works, it just feels dated. I still use it a lot but I haven't really come across any better alternatives. They could also work on the presentation of the tabs to make them more legible. I'd like to be able to have the show fretboard/keyboard display a system wide option instead of having to turn it off every time I look at an individual tab. Sometimes I just want to see as much of the music as possible and the extra lines would be helpful. It's also getting difficult to see some of the annotations while I'm playing along. For example the string bend marks are way too small and I don't know why they decided to display them above the staff when all the notations for hammer ons, pull offs, slides, etc are displayed on the fret numbers. It I'm playing along with a song, put all the notation where I'm looking, not in multiple places.

The app has become useless

I used to love this app, but the browser has become completely useless making it virtually impossible to load new tab from the web into the app. I'll move on to a new app.

Best

Best 10$ I've ever spent and if your complaining about having problems using the built in browser just use Safari ( just like you normally would) and go to download the tablature file and it will pop up and say "open in tab toolkit" and then works just like normal or using the old built in browser. Seriously I have no problems using it that way at all. Try it guys!!

ok

App itself it pretty good, In fact I was gonna give it 5 stars till I tried to use the web browser to download some tabs. The built in browser is obviously not designed to make it easy downloading tabs from the net… its VERY slow to the point I don’t want to use it at all.

A must for guitar players

I started using this app somewhere in like 2009-2010. It's fantastic. It's helped me so much. I just wish that it would be revamped for newer iPhones/operating systems. Also, the in-app browser is garbage. I mostly transfer from the computer, but I just learned that you can use safari to download the tabs, so no real problem there. A revamping would be fantastic.

Used to be awesome

This app used to be great. But the browser within the app is so buggy and slow I can't stand using it anymore.

Was once a great app...

This was once the greatest app out there for an iOS device. It was able to collect and support all the formats I used - Tab Pro, Guitar Pro, and text tabs. However, a few years ago, it became brutally painful to leverage the native browser for Ultimate-Guitar.com website - which is where just about every guitarist gets their tabs. Not sure what the deal was between Agile and UG, but it wasn't good. Now it takes forever and no-one seems to want to fix it. It think this is more of a political/$$ problem than anything else (I'm not going into the politics of Copyrights or anything), but it's made a great app almost useless unless you want to use their library and pay-as-you-play. It's too bad. If, however, you're behind your laptop/desktop, you can easily get all the tabs from the UG site directly from your browser and download them to your iOS device. I just wish I could use this on my iOS standalone. Just remember to download what you need before you leave the house....
