Keyboard

Keyboard freezes at least twice a day

Still my favorite keyboard

Jonny Apple

This is much faster than the default keyboard. It has a few bugs but they are forgivable.

I was really excited about this...

I was really excited about this keyboard! This is by far the biggest thing I miss about having an android. But for whatever reason, the keyboard keeps freezing up and you can't type anything or switch to another keyboard. I literally have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work again. It's very frustrating and I'm really disappointed.

So many bugs

Stuvypox

I really love using Swype to text but the number of bugs with this keyboard keep piling up, without ever getting fixed. There's the bug with autocorrect, the bug where the WHOLE keyboard will just freeze and stop responding (forcing you to stop in the middle of texting to turn the keyboard off & on from settings, since you can't just switch keyboards!), and now with the latest Apple update to 11.2, there's this annoying shift in the keyboard image, with the top part of the keyboard cut off and blank space on the bottom of the keyboard. I expect this to be fixed sometime never... some of these bugs have been present since I first got this app several YEARS ago. Do yourself a favor, save your hard earned $ for an app developer that will actually put in the effort to regularly support and fix their app, instead of just grab and run.

Handy, but buggy

Emoji board cannot be turned off. Frequently does not load, or stalls out while typing, leaving a blank, unusable keyboard. Frustrating at best. When it's working, it's great, except for the emojo board, which makes the keyboard take up almost the entire screen when the phone is held laterally. Any way we can get an option to turn that "feature" off?

My favorite keyboard on android is a sloppy mess on ios.

The swype typing functionality is fine, it's all the little details around autocorrect and related features that cause problems (punctuation selecting corrected word, always adding a period at the end of a sentence, even if a question mark or exclamation point is already there!.) It's frustrating because the keyboard could be great on ios as well, but it just isn't.

Swype is great, but ...

cmartss

First off, I love Swype. It's the best at what it does. My issue is with the frequent freezing of the keyboard. Many many times lately the app just becomes totally non responsive. Like, it does not recognize touch at all. I have no idea if this is iPhone or the app or what, but it's a real problem now. It's my favorite keyboard but I am writing this review on another keyboard right now because Swype froze on me again. Try it, for sure, but let me know what you think or if it freezes for you too.

Works ? for me

Once Monster, on iOS 10 & 11 experiencing issues

My original review 1-2 yrs old raved abt how good Swype was & worth the modest price. I still like it, wish to continue to use it, but must make exception & downgrade the experience. The emoji prediction sometimes gets in the way. I am now experiencing sporadic keyboard lock-ups using an iPad Pro. Resolution usually required a hard reboot. Not a problem if you can remember what you meant to say after a 2 minute interruption. The lock-ups occur almost exclusively with 2 apps: Twitter & Purple Platform and were there under iOS 10 & now iOS 11. I've been blaming those apps, but it is undetermined the precise origin mix. I KNOW they are worse while using Swype. If I kill Swype, they are nearly eliminated. If PP is running in the background, the freeze can happen during another active app, albeit rarely. (CAVEAT: I am running an older version of PP at present). I am tying it to a conflict with the keyboard b/c (a few times it has been less than complete freeze): changing to another keyboard returns control. Often though, the lockup prevents changing keyboards. I see other people are experiencing problems too. I used to be able to run Swype & Swiftkey simultaneously. Please fix this once & for all, so I can use it once again.

Some bugs but good interface

Rattpack till I D.I.E

Been using Swype since my Samsung S3 back in 2013. After switching to an iPhone I couldn't go back to traditional typing, I noticed that the keyboard does have more bugs than the Android version but I'm just too used to the keyboard to switch over to other keyboards like Gboard. I like how long pressing letters will pull up the alternate keys (holding down m triggers ?). This helps make my typing more efficient with less finger movement. One suggestion I have would be to import the settings from the keyboard to the app. It will make it easier for first time users to locate and properly customize their settings.
