Substring is a lot of fun and pretty addictive! If you're a fan of classic yahoo games like wordracer, give this one a try. It's a simple twist on word discovery games, and who doesn't love a programming joke in the name :) It also doubles as a great typing tutor for the iPhone! You'll be flying along after a few rounds of substring.
This is one of those great games like pictionary or taboo that seems so simple in theory but is actually really hard under time pressure! Substring is really fun and I love that it's customizable!
I love this game! Fun, addictive and mentally challenging. Great word exercises and a great deal for only $0.99!
Fun but that lemon lime color used as a background does not provide enough contrast. Also, letters you type need to be larger and black. Is so hard on my eyes that I've given up playing.
I'm a big fan of word games and this one definitely puts your skills to the test! Small note: to input letters you need to use uppercase.
I love this game. It really makes me think. I especially love the timed levels. The game has beautiful graphics.
As someone who likes Words With Friends and other word games, I just really love the idea that this uses a string of letters inside a word -- it is a cool thing to wrap my head around as I play. (For example, a substring in the word "example" is "xam." Who would've thought of that?) I find myself blasting through level after level. Really addictive. Highly recommend.
Looks like you implemented a number of my suggestions - thanks! I find that 30 sec is too short for the challenges on iPhone -- too easy to mistype, and one false move and you're done for. There seems to be a problem with Starter L25. I answered "incoherent" and it was accepted, but it was looking for one more answer. Overall a really fun game! ====== My earlier review: I really love the simple concept of this game and could easily get addicted to it. Problems include that it's very hard to read the white on lime green text, there are words I've used that are not in the dictionary (though other apps like quordy accept them), there is no way to pause a game, there is no way to use the keyboard horizontally -- so you mistype and lose time (there's easily enough real estate for that if a bar is used to show time remaining). It would be great to have a variant that requires you to find more than one word with a given substring, or perhaps all known ones in the dictionary (e.g. by saying how many there are, possibly how many letters each). 4-letter substrings might be fun too, maybe even 2-letter, which would lend itself better to a "find as many as you can" mode. Or how about substring must be at the beginning or end of the word? Great potential with this idea; hope to see some improvements soon!
Substring is the best!!! Perfect balance of difficulty and fun. Perfect for playing for 5 minutes or hours. Always amusing.
